Arboretum view
Welcome to the Markshall Estate Arboretum Explorer
Markshall Estate is a registered charity covering 200-acres of stunning Arboretum and Gardens, as well as a further 2000-acres of ancient woodlands and tenanted farmland.
Left to the nation by Thomas Phillips Price "for the advancement of agriculture, arboriculture and forestry", the Trust was established in 1971 and planting in the Arboretum and surrounding Parkland started soon afterwards.
Within the Arboretum visitors can journey through temperate plantings from Europe, Asia, North America and the super continent of Gondwana and explore more than 5000 trees and shrubs from all these continents. A unique ‘around the world in 80 minutes’ experience for visitors to savour.
Visitors can also marvel at beautiful plantings within the Walled Garden, which is home to the longest herbaceous border in Essex.
